The Racing Stripe borrows straight from the hot-rod side of the fifties: a smooth, rounded cream body with one bold grey stripe running up the back, off-center, the way it would sit on a car hood. Mustard piping traces the outline of the back, the seat and the side profile.
Design details
- Smooth plain back with rounded shoulders, no tufting
- Grey contrast panel set into the back as a single stripe
- Seat with a rounded front edge and piped seams
- Oak kick rail across the front of the base, over a recessed black plinth
Construction
Hardwood and plywood frame, glued and screwed; high-resilience foam; contract vinyl. The oak rail takes the shoe scuffs that usually mark the lower front of a booth, and it can be refinished or replaced on its own.
Where it works
Car-themed burger joints, drive-in style diners, family restaurants and milkshake bars. Plain backs are the easiest booth backs to wipe down, which helps in rooms that serve breakfast to kids.
Options: body color, stripe color and position (one stripe, twin stripes, centered), piping color, kick rail finish, length, single or double-sided. Foam can be specified to meet CAL TB 117-2013 on request.
